THE ARTIST Benji Carr

My introduction to the art world began in 1976 while working as an employee at the Naples Mill School of Arts and Crafts, where I was able to use studio spaces nights and off season. While especially motivated by the blacksmithing tooling, I was captivated and inspired by the creative spirits of the visiting artists.

After a brief stint in the military, I purchased a rural property where I built a small studio for the tools and machinery needed to hone my skills. Occasionally I would show at local art venues and soon noticed that my medium was not as saleable as other art media, but I developed a following of metal art lovers and recurring customers, taking on unique fabrications for individuals of discriminate and eclectic tastes.

What I create today is a mix of modern tech and old-world craftsmanship, producing one-of-a-kind installations combining sculpture and function. Thus my business name“Iron Sculp & Func” Metalsmithing.
